The #OnThisDay take on the anniversary of Charles Blondin making his first tightrope walk across the #NiagaraFalls, on this day in 1859. Calais born #Blondin was trained as an acrobat at Lyon and made his first appearance under the title of as "The boy Wonder". After moving to New York in 1855 he performed with a circus troupe before making his legendary crossing at Niagara Gorge, repeating the crossing numerous times in a blindfold, a sack, and even carrying his manager!
