TESCO SONG
Farewell to the old, Hello to the new I hope it’ll save me a penny or two Tesco Gateshead, Trinity Square I’ll tell you what’s happening there
Do you remember the indoor market? The butcher’s, the cobblers, the old-fashioned sweet shop The man selling records, the old manky toilets (eeugh!) The cafe on the corner – the bait was always top!
There’s nowt in Gateshead, it’s got run down. They say it’ll bring back the pride of the town. Do you think it’s tacky or better than before? Is it pretty damn gorgeous, or an eyesore?
Can the people of Gateshead afford the cost? Of the expensive bars and shops Some have money, most have not Will the others be left to rot? It’s better than gannin’ to Newcastle Getting the bus can be a reet hassle When the old Tesco closed they all went away Now that it’s back will people stay
(SPOKEN) It’ll bring more diversity, people from university It’ll be better socially, it’ll be better totally I want the naming rights, the bookie bloke said It’ll be like the Eldon square of Gateshead
Will it change Gateshead, not in a massive way There’ll be more shops, that what they say It’s wonderful, it’s progress, it’s positive change Now the builders are gone we can walk free again!
