Isle of Wight daytrip: Taking the Floating Bridge chain ferry across the Medina (July 2014)

Cowes, at the northernmost point on the Isle of Wight, is actually two towns, separated by the River Medina. To cross between the two you can either take the twenty mile road route, or have a ride on the Floating Bridge. The second word there is actually misleading, as this is only a bridge in the metaphorical sense, a link between two places. Rather, it is a car and foot passenger ferry which hauls itself through the water using mighty chains anchored on either shore. It is quite an experience and well worth a recording.
