EDU 313: Social Media

Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, blogs. What do all of these have in common? They all fall under the category of social media or social networking. And that’s where we’re going to turn our focus this week. The materials this week will help you to better understand the term social media or social networking and what it means specific to the world of education. And I’m guessing you’ve at least heard of these tools, but this week we’ll look not just as what they are but how they can be used by teachers and students. Whether you’re someone that buys into the idea of social media or thinks it’s more of a distraction than a help, they reality is, it’s here, in the world we live in. So, how can these impact education? How can they help you as an educator become more connected to other educators? And how can students benefit from these tools?
