Alfie's birthday is saved from becoming a wash-out

Twenty three families in Oxford were made homeless last week after a burst water main in Cowley sent water pouring into their homes. The people affected may not get back into their homes for six months. But out of a disaster, a happy story often emerges. It was Alfie's 7th on Saturday and all his presents had been ruined. But BBC Radio Oxford listeners called Malcolm Boyden to offer support, we had cakes, toys and Boswells in Oxford called to offer a toy of Alfie's choice.
