I'm very lucky in my job to met some really wonderful and interesting people and Myrtle is one of thos ladies I'll never forget!
Myrtle Beattie, 72, rebuilt a cottage over the last two years and last week opened her little art gallery - all after her husband Alan died suddenly in 2011. She has has several exhibits with friends in Bangor. The former home economics teacher at Orangefield High School, Belfast exhibits her work which she has gathered over the last three years. Her work includes everything from tradition to abstract and she is inspired by the Canadian Seven.. A simple sign in her front garden is attracting curious visitors to her little gallery which doubles as an art gallery.
