Should it be made illegal to burn the Australian flag?

The Triple M Grill Team discussed if it should it be made illegal to burn the Australian flag? Indigenous rights protesters burnt an Australian flag at the G20 in Brisbane. In some countries it is illegal to burn the national flag but it is not illegal in Australia. Laws have been proposed several times, but Government Bills have been defeated. Former PM John Howard said in 2006 he thought it was offensive and “despised’’ those who burned the flag but did not believe it should be made a criminal offence.
