In a forty year career John Dunn was one of the BBC’s most versatile and popular radio personalities. Working across all the networks – Light, Home & Third, Radios 1, 2, 3 & 4 as well as the World Service – he presented sports programmes, children’s programmes, quizzes, jazz shows, magazine programmes and concerts as well as being an announcer and newsreader. On Radio 2 he regularly hosted shows at all times of the day from Breakfast Special to Late Night Extra. John had an afternoon show in the early 1970s and from 1976 was in charge for the station’s drivetime show for 22 years (apart from a brief schedule re-shuffle in 1981). John died in 2004 aged 70. He was a true giant of radio.
