In the Czech Republic's capital, Prague, beer has long been many peoples' drink of choice. Another beverage, though, is fast gaining new popularity - and that's #coffee. Prague's café culture, in fact, was a big feature of the early twentieth century. Writers like Franz Kafka visited cafes to debate and contemplate. Communism led to the near disappearance of this part of Prague's heritage. Today though, coffee is witnessing a revival. There are of course the inevitable international chains, like Costa and Starbucks. But the real buzz is around trendy independent shops, where coffee sales have increased by around 20 per cent every year since 2010.
