A Utah woman was among 660 people worldwide to participate in a clinical trial to treat Hepatitis C. Gina Palmer-Douglas says she received a liver transplant years ago but the virus attacked her new liver and pushed it into cirrhosis. During her clinical trial at Intermountain Medical Center, Palmer-Douglas says she took one pill twice a day for 24 weeks and says her quality of life has improved 100%. Cures for diseases are almost unheard of but Intermountain Healthcare in Salt Lake City and others in the global medical community say they have a cure for Hepatitis C. The study is published online in the journal Gastroenterology.
