Army deserters implicated in criminal activity in Bor town

A string of crimes in Bor town, believed to be the work Army deserters has prompted the authorities in Jonglei state to convene an extra ordinary meeting to discuss how to deal with them.

The authorities in Jonglei state say a great number of SPLA soldiers who left the frontline in Pajut are currently hiding in the communities, and causing mayhem in the area.

The army deserters have been linked to a wave of criminal activity that includes shootings, looting and night time robberies.

On Monday, the state governor summoned the SPLA Division eight commanders, Police commissioner and top security organs in the state to discuss how this problem can be dealt with.
