City MP comments on closure of school after asbestos scare

Oct 21, 2015, 04:00 PM

Senior teachers, governors and city education officials are looking where pupils from Sutherland Primary Academy can learn over the next few months. The school's building in Blurton will not re-open after the October half-term break after new safety advice warned there is the 'potential of a major asbestos fall' from the ceilings.

Rob Flello, MP for SOT South, is helping the school access Government funding for the work. He met with the Schools Minister Nick Gibb yesterday and told me that a senior civil servant will visit the school this week.
