According to the calendar we are just a few short weeks away from everything sounding a lot like Christmas as some radio stations flip the switch to begin a 30 day run of holiday music while a significant number of listeners flock to these stations to enjoy current and classic Christmas songs. A recent study by Nielsen Audio showed some exciting trends when stations flip to All Christmas Music. LINK TO THE REPORT: https://shar.es/1uzYJa Mid-day or 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday led the holiday ratings, with listening hitting the highest point in the noon hour. The audience size during mid-days increased 71 percent from when the stations were not in the All Christmas format. However, that wasn’t where the most dramatic changes due to holiday music happened. The total listenership for the nighttime (defined as Monday-Friday 7 p.m.-midnight) were off the charts compared with the normal results for 7 pm - midnight. During the course of the holiday ratings season, nights saw a 129 percent lift. Obviously, this is when many consumers are driving to stores buying Christmas gifts for their loved ones.
