EDU 313: Web 2.0

This week we’re going to be taking a look at a group of tools called Web 2.0 tools. There are thousands and thousands of Web 2.0 tools out there and in fact you guys have already taken a look at a few of them. Google Blogs, PhotoPeach, and Google Drive are all examples of Web 2.0 tools as well as so many others.

What are Web 2.0 tools? These tools are easily accessible to anyone, very often free, and can be found online. These tools typically have options to easily share projects or completed materials with others. Web 2.0 is focused on creating and then sharing or collaborating with others. These Web 2.0 tools do a variety of things that fall under the umbrella of collaboration, discussion, working together, and creative expression. This is of course great for education! Anytime you can find free easily accessible tools and allow for sharing and collaboration, it's great and can be great for learning and teaching in the classroom. So what will do this week is take a look at where to find these Web 2.0 tools and how they can be useful in education.

You can see when you take a look inside this week's folder that we are going to focus on few specific Web 2.0 tools as well as showing you some articles and links to help you locate additional tools that can help you as a teacher. So get ready. This week is a lot of fun and it will help you to identify and gain a better understanding of free tools that you can use as an educator.
