‘The bridge with no name’ – row over proposed Strabane councillor tribute.

A row has erupted in Derry City and Strabane District Council over the naming of the new footbridge. Sinn Fein wanted the bridge in Strabane, which is due to be officially opened this week named after former councillor, the late Ivan Barr. 16 SF councillors a number of independents backed it, but all other parties opposed the move - and the DUP Social Development Minister Mervyn Storey threatened to pull the money for the bridge if it was named after Barr - leaving ratepayers to pick up the tab. So now councillors have voted to leave the bridge without a name. Joining me on the line to tell me more is independent councillor, paul Gallagher and the DUP's Alderman Allan Bresland.
