Dr. Riek Machar, leader of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in the opposition (SPLM-IO) has met with Uganda President Yoweri Museveni to discuss the implementation of the South Sudan peace agreement.
The closed-door discussions took place Monday evening in Masindi, a town 200 km west of the Ugandan capital Kampala.
James Gadet, spokesperson of the SPLM-IO says Machar asked President Museveni to persuade President Salva Kiir to drop the 28 states, which is a major sticking point in the peace process.
