UNMISS Civil Affairs section partners in conflict managament and mitigation

The Civil Affairs section of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) is as key partner in conflict management and mitigation.

In the first of what will be weekly UNMISS press briefings, the Chief of the Civil Affairs section in the UN Mission, Ali Hassan, outlined the work they are involved in. He made some revealing remarks.

“In mid-2015 the number of people killed in revenge attacks in Lakes somewhat surpassed the actual number of people who died in the active conflict between the two main parties.”
