UNMISS Field Office welcomes ‘historic’ Agreement for peace in Western Equatoria

Representatives from the Government of South Sudan and a local armed opposition group, known as the South Sudan National Liberation Movement, signed an agreement on Saturday, brokered by the Interfaith group headed by Bishop Edward Hiboro, the Bishop of Tambura – Yambio Diocese.

The agreement has been welcomed by Mr. Koliab Nahataba, UNMISS head of office, who described the agreement as a historic milestone that must be applauded.

“We applaud the Government of the republic of South Sudan and the South Sudan National Liberation army for choosing and prioritizing peace amicably resolving the conflict.” said Koliab.
