A updated report came across my desk this week highlighting some key demographic findings from Nielsen Audio about Kansas City radio audience over the last 12 months. The median age of this Kansas City community is 44. The largest age cell is forty five to fifty four with just under 19% of the community. Second largest was 35-54 with 17.3% and third was 55-64 at 16.6%. One third of Kansas City radio listeners are college graduates with another 26.2% having 1-3 years of college. When you look at household income, nearly 40% of the community earns $75,000 or more annually. As we break out specific details about radio listening, you probably won’t be overly surprised as Radio is one of the more consistent medium out there delivering steady audience numbers year after year. 92% of all Kansas Citians can be found listening to the radio every week…that is over one million, five hundred fifty six thousand people. Much like the city, the gender composition of KC radio listeners is 48% male and 51% female. And when do you think most people listen? Afternoon Drive or Monday through Friday 3PM – 7PM is the top daypart. This report has a lot more detailed information and is even broken down by “demographic group” – millennials, generation x, and boomers. Let me know what demographic group you are after and I will happily share the information with you.
