Scraponomics Episode 127: Get help while spring-cleaning!
“In the Spring, I have counted 136 different kinds of weather inside of 24 hours.” — Mark Twain
Spring is officially here! Well…maybe not. It’s hard to tell.
It feels like April Fools came a bit late this year in Michigan.
Either way, it’s still a good time to start thinking about spring-cleaning.
Sometimes, you can do everything yourself, but sometimes you just want someone to do everything for you. Well, I’ve created an online service for this!
It’s called Connect and Haul, and here’s how it works.
Let’s say you need to clean out your garage. If you can’t do it yourself, you can go to connectandhaul.com and post a job. It’s free.
The form to post a job takes about two minutes to fill out. When you click Post My Job, your inquiry gets emailed out to hauling services in your area, which will then contact you with a quote.
Hauling companies are some examples of Friedland’s customers. They take any scrap material they get from jobs to places like us to get paid for their scrap value. When scrap prices were higher, sometimes haulers could offer free pick-ups for jobs that only had scrap material and no trash. But with current scrap prices, they need to charge for nearly all of the jobs they do, especially for jobs that contain both scrap and trash or only trash.
Nevertheless, there are outlets for people to get scrap and trash hauled away without putting too much labor into it. Connect and Haul just helps people connect with great hauling companies near them that can do the job.
Some people think about spring-cleaning and get motivated. Others get a little intimidated. Whatever type of person you are, just know that there’s accessible businesses that can help you with the labor involved.
