Machar returns home

Riek Machar arrived in Juba this afternoon.

The Chairman of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/Army in the opposition, touched down aboard a UN flight at 3:40pm. He took his oath as 1st Vice President of South Sudan shortly after.

Machar was sworn in by Chief justice Chan Reec Madut in a ceremony witnessed by President Salva Kiir at the President’s office in Juba.
