UN special envoy calls for professional structures to prevent sexual violence

“Building professional and accountable structures are essential in addressing issues of sexual violence and human rights violations,”the visiting UN Special envoy on Sexual Violence in Conflict has said.

Zainab Bangura, said on Thursday that preventing cases of sexual violence should complement accountability for past crimes.

The UN special envoy arrived in Juba, #SouthSudan this morning on a four day visit. Speaking on her arrival, Bangura said mechanisms should be put in place to ensure cases of rape, kidnap and other forms of abuse do not occur.
