The city of Prince George is considering a new license plate recognition system to stop people from changing parking spots when the free parking limit runs out. Michael Vaughn is a Policy Director with the BC Civil Liberties Association. She worries that the technology is potentially invasive.

The city of Prince George did not respond to Daybreak's request for comment. The budget for the license plate recognition system and associated signage currently sits at 450,000 dollars. The system is expected to be reviewed before council at the end of the month.
