A Gift to Unweary

I can hear something underneath the sound Of the congregational response when I realize you're humming, and I am unwound; My worry's untied as your tune takes me in. Your quiet hum stops when our reading Pauses, and in the silence words hang above, Hover, and fall upon hearts in meaning In flaming tongues of fire and love. And just as we resume this conversation, Your descant renews adding to the swell Of voices a levity, a childlike elation Of wonder which breaks the Disenchanter's spell. People, be patient when children hum and make art; It’s a gift to unweary and unburden your heart.
