The Cougar Sally Two Toes Every Thursday night the old bounty hunter goes down to the bowling alley. On the trail of a mountain cat once caught in a trap, Two Toes cougar Sally. She was a kitten when she chewed off two toes to escape the hunter who had her snared. Ever since, she’s run from the barking dogs. She’s running but she’s not scared. She’s a beautiful lithe cat tawny and fair. She runs with her tail high up in the air. She loves to run from the puppies. She’s always ahead of the pack. She gets them confused they lose the trail then she circles back. They cut her scent and the chase is on again, but now she’s running them, Then when the dogs are closing in she hides in her mountain den. She purrs contently, she licks her paws, and she dreams of another chase. The old bounty hunter sits at the lanes and drinks down another case. The old bounty hunter hangs out with the pups; they drink their beer and wine. He sits on the side and watches them and they roll another line. He always asks. Have you seen her? Has anyone cut her trail? He loves Sally two toes and hunts her, she escaped him and he’s in jail. He dreams of the puppies running her, and the old dog barking treed. She spits, she scratches she snarls, and then the old hunter does the deed. The bounty hunter’s an old man now. Sally two toes is up on the hill.
