Brian Widlake

Journalist and broadcaster Brian Widlake was a familiar voice to Radio 4 listeners in the 1970s and 80s at the helm of two major news programmes: The World at One and PM. He'd worked at ITN in the early 1960s securing a journalistic coup in 1961 when he interviewed Nelson Mandela. By 1968 he was with BBC2 as one of the reporters and later main presenter of The Money Programme. He joined Radio 4 in 1976 working on PM for a couple of years and The World at One for 13 years. In the early 1990s he presented on LBC Crown FM/LBC Newstalk.

Brian Widlake died in January 2017 aged 85.
