Fury over phone-in debate - callers discuss attitudes of NI people to Muslims #BBCNolan

Yesterday, the Nolan Show had a caller which outraged many of you. Many people were saying that we should not have taken her off air. That it was a fringe view. The calls had been prompted by a conversation on Donald Trump's "extreme vetting" travel ban. But we have been looking at the most recent survey into social attitudes here in Northern Ireland and it may shock you. The Northern Ireland Life and Times Survey asked people about their attitudes about whether they would like Muslims to visit Northern Ireland, live here, live here as their neighbours, accept Muslims as their colleagues, as close friends, or in-laws. And this does appear to be a problem specifically in relation to the Muslim community. It also asked the same questions about people's attitudes to minority ethnic groups. And while they may still shock you, the figures are considerably lower. Today we took more of your calls about this.
