Rio Woolf's Interview with Nick Coffer on BBC Three Counties Radio re: the new government fund for NHS paediatric prosthetics with Carly Bauert from LimbPower: 5th January 2017

It was great to return to the BBC Three Counties studios in Dunstable on 5th January 2017 (Rio did an interview there in May 2016 after we returned from The Orlando Invictus Games) to be on air with charming presenter Nick who gave Rio a great intro featuring Duran Duran's 'Rio' which we can't include here for copyright reasons.

Nick talks about Rio's story and his fantastic Ottobock UK running blade fitted by Dorset Orthopaedic which has totally changed his life, empowering him to participate fully in PE and so many sports including his favourites - running, tennis and football!

Rio did so well answering Nick's great questions and he thoroughly enjoyed the whole radio studio experience - he had fun bantering with Nick and it was lovely to see Toby Friedner again on whose show Rio did his very first interview four years ago when he was only 4!

Rio loved showing off his 1E93 Runner Junior and 3S80 Sports Knee with its stunning Union Jack socket inspired by his ParalympicsGB Para-Tri hero, Rio 2016 Gold Medallist Andy J Lewis Mbe who has the same socket design. 🇬🇧🏊🏻🚴🏻🏃🏻🏅👏🏻

Carly Bauert - LimbPower Children's Prosthetics Coordinator - also joined our interview by phone to talk about the long-awaited recent announcement by the Government of a fund for limb-different children in England to receive sports prosthetics on the NHS and the importance for these children to be able to fully participate in sport and to lead an active lifestyle.

BIG THANKS Carly for your kind words about Rio and for explaining about the need for children to use sports prosthetics and the process for accessing them so clearly.

Rio is very proud to play his part in spreading the word about the NHS England funding for sports prosthetics for children and we really hope to have reached a few more parents today through this interview so that they'll register their children at their local NHS Limb-Fitting Centre to get a sports prosthetic. 🏃🏻🏃‍♀️👍🏻😊

*Fun Fact: 'Rio' is one of two Duran Duran songs featuring Rio's name - the other being 'Hungry Like The Wolf' - and Rio loves them both!
