Discussion: How to stop Rape in South Sudan

A Senior Police Officer has been arrested for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl.

Lt Colonel Mark Chol, the Inspector of Police in Nimule Town Council was picked up by security officials yesterday evening. The Commissioner of Pageri County, Emilio Igga confirms the development to Radio Miraya and says the girl was found unconscious in a lodge in Nimule, and was rushed to hospital where she is receiving treatment.

Now this is just one of the cases of rape that has been brought to the public. Rape incidents are increasing in #SouthSudan, a country that has witnessed conflict spanning many years.

So what exactly is going wrong here and how do we get out of this?
