Bealtaine — May Day

Oh, glorious day, scatter the winds as they may. Lift up your voices, lift your words and pray; Farewell to Winter, bless us as we say Welcome to the Sum-mer, welcome in the May.

See how the apple dressed in her white flowers Sings through the day, the blessing of its hours. See how the willow, gently bends her head Over the river where she makes her bed.

Lift up your voices, welcoming the sun Who’s day is lengthened, whither he may run. For winter has left us, glory be the day Lift up your voices, unto the summer pray.

Through the fires of Bealtaine, see the cattle freed In deep mother earth, the swelling of the seed. Praise her with May bush, on lintel and on door; With Rowan and with blossom may we praise her more.

Oh, glorious day, scatter the winds as they may. Lift up your voices, lift your words and pray; Farewell to Winter, bless us as we say Welcome to the Sum_mer, welcome in the May. Frank Callery © (May Eve and May day, May 1st. 2011).
