International medical organisation Médecins Sans Frontières also known as Doctors without Borders says Cholera has broken out and malnutrition is escalating among people sheltering in the bush near Pieri, in the greater Jonglei area.

According to Micheal Keizer, MSF deputy head of mission, majority of the people sheltering in Pieri fled their homes in Yuai and Waat since mid-February, after clashes between the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) and opposition groups.

Keizzer says there is an urgent need for more food to be provided, both to local people and to displaced people around Pieri.
