Reports of a strange disease affecting prisoners at Juba Central Prison have prompted the Ministry of Health to dispatch a medical team to take samples from the inmates.
Prison authorities say the patients suffer paralysis in the lower limbs with swollen legs, faces and stomachs.
There are also reports of diarrhea, respiratory infection and high blood pressure.
The International Committee of the Red Cross has responded with emergency treatment of the symptoms.
The spokesperson of the #SouthSudan prisons service, Col. Paul Puk says twenty cases have been reported.
He plays down the gravity of the situation and links the symptoms to malnutrition.
He spoke to Sebit William in this interview.
