Sparks Police have issued an Amber Alert in connection with the car jacking of an elderly woman early this afternoon. Police say a black man approached a 75-year-old woman this (Thursday) afternoon at around 2:00 and demanded her car keys and money. The woman noticed that a frightened black girl, about eight years old, was with the man. She gave him her keys, but told him she had no money. The victim also told police the girl initially refused to get into the car with the suspect. Normally a missing person report or something similar is required before an amber alert is issued, but Sparks Police Lieutenant Greta Woyciewhowsky says they consulted with N-H-P and decided to issue the alert any way. The Lieutenant says the car is a maroon Nissan Altima with the license plate 9-2-F-4-2-4. The suspect is, 28 to 35 years old old, with a thin mustache and thin, 6 foot build. He was wearing a dark blue shirt with a Dallas Cowboys emblem on the front and blue jeans. The child is described as wearing pig tails and dark yellow dress. If you have seen the suspect or the girl, or have any information about either of them, please call your local law enforcement agency.
