South Sudan’s crude oil production drops by 70% as NILEPET takes steps to avert fuel shortages

South Sudan’s crude oil production has dropped from 400,000 barrels per day to just 130 thousand barrels per day, as the Nile Petroleum corporation struggles to avail sufficient fuel to the country.

South Sudan has suffered the biggest fuel shortage in recent months as a glut over the last week saw prices plunge to almost 10 dollars per liter of fuel on the black market.

NilePet Managing Director, Thelweng Mathiang said the fuel shortages have been triggered by a huge gap between NILEPET supplies and the market demand.

He appeared on Radio Miraya’s Nationwide Program, together with Aten Wek Ateny to discuss the fuel shortages and steps being taken to avert the fuel crisis in #SouthSudan.
