Tackling the sexual and gender based violence diction in South Sudan

The horrifying stories of #SouthSudan women and girls raped in conflict, has put the country into national and the international spotlight.
Domestic and gender based violence is a widespread problem for local women in #SouthSudan. Yet women are blamed, tagged and humiliated, sparking off serious consequences.
Gender and communications specialists, in a special discussion with Radio Miraya, observed “women in south Sudan have been rooted in much suffering channelled through male chauvinism channels of humiliation, branding, and threat of abandonment.”
Joining us for this discussion is; Rukaya Muhamed, program specialist UN Women, Dr Angelina Mattijo Bazugba, Associate professor Univeristy of Juba, who is also Director of the National Transformational Leadership institute and Reuben Inaju, Outreach unit officer, Communications and Public information office of the UN mission in South Sudan.
