The Danish Minister of Development Cooperation says the country’s leaders must demonstrate genuine political will to end to the conflict, warning that there is no end in sight to the humanitarian crisis until the fighting stops.

Ulla Tørnæs made the comments as she concluded a visit to assess the progress of Danish supported projects in South Sudan and get a better understanding of the political, security and humanitarian situation in the country.

Ms. Tørnæs said her government is particularly worried about the humanitarian situation, highlighting restrictions on humanitarian access and high food insecurity levels.

The Danish minister met with the UN Special Representative, also Chief of UNMISS – David Shearer who appreciated the Danish support.
