Police urge calm amid heightened tension in Juba

The South Sudan Police Service is calling on citizens of Juba to remain calm. The call comes after deployments of security personnel in parts of the national capital from Friday through the weekend.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Daniel Justin, confirms that the deployments were around the home of former army Chief of Staff Gen. Paul Malong.
“Yes there are people there but this were some security arrangements the area so the road was blocked for some time but later on there was nothing.”
He says the situation is calm, with people going about their daily routines and is urging the public not to listen to rumors.
Inspector General of Police, Syed Chawul Lom was on National Television on Sunday morning to allay fears and reassure the public of their security.
The army was not ready to comment.
