Nigerian Senate pledges support to COSON

The Senate has pledged unflinching support to the music industry, towards ensuring that musicians derive full financial reward for their efforts.

Senate President Bukola Saraki made the pledge, in Lagos during an all-night live performance by both veteran and upcoming musicians which is a major activity for the ongoing Copyright Society of Nigeria, COSON, week.

Senator Saraki whose remark was delivered by Senator Ademola Adeleke from Osun State, explained that musicians have contributed immensely in positively projecting the country's image globally and deserve every support.

Saraki conveyed the appreciation of the 8th senate to the President of COSON, Chief Tony Okoroji for his foresight of securing the future of the country's musicians.

In a remark, Veteran broadcaster Bisi Olatilo who was among dignitaries at the event spoke on the need for an endowment fund for musicians in preparation for old age.

COSON president Chief Tony Okoroji had in an address of welcome said the live music performance , tagged,

"COSON Greenball", was a soft way of forging ahead national unity and cohesion using music, noting that peace is needed to attract investment.

Correspondent Innocent Onoh reports that the event was fun filled all as musicians , both upcoming and veterans including Ras Kimono and Shina Peters did what they know how to do best, therefore making the night a memorable one for attendees.

Also in attendance were the Director Lagos Operations of the FRCN Prince Adeyinka Amosu and Immediate General Manager Cordelia Okpei among other dignitaries.
