Over 70 percent of Nigerians live below the poverty level of less than one dollar per day. This can be blamed on the poor power situation which has affected businesses and brought about increase in unemployment rate in the country. The nation’s over 180 million population grapple with less than 6000 megawatts of electricity, despite the abundant resources for renewable energy. Previous administrations had come up with several reforms aimed at repositioning the power sector for effective performance, but to no avail. One of such was the roadmap to the power sector which was launched by the previous administration.
