Can the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement be a game changing point for South Sudan?

All parties involved in the Intergovernmental Authority on Development -IGAD-led revitalization forum on South Sudan have agreed on a "cessation of hostilities" protection of civilians and humanitarian access.

According to the agreement, a copy of which Radio Miraya has seen, All forces shall immediately freeze in their locations, except for movements authorized by CTSAMM for logistical and administrative purposes.

Within 72 hours of the signing of this Agreement, each Party shall notify its commanders and affiliates of this Agreement and the obligations to cease all hostilities.

The stakes for South Sudan political leadership are enormous. Thousands of people have died in South Sudan over the past four years of the conflict. An estimated two million people have been uprooted and fled to neighbouring countries as refugees.

Drastic changes must happen soon, to put a cap on the the death and destruction.

So can midnight Sunday be a game-changing point in the South Sudan conflict? That's when a "cessation of hostilities" is set to go into effect.
