OXFAM takes closer look at the story behind the hunger in South Sudan

Episode 174,   Feb 28, 2018, 10:54 AM

British charity OXFAM is set to release a paper in line with the food situation in South Sudan.

The paper complements the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification – or IPC report that was released early this week warning of worsening food security levels in the coming months.

The OXFAM paper looks at the implication of hunger on water sanitation, hygiene as well as how gender inequality is making women and girls more vulnerable to food insecurity.

Elizabeth White, OXFAM Advocacy and Campaigns Manager and Elysia Buchanan, OXFAM Policy Adviser, spoke with Miraya Breakfast show saying the briefing paper goes beyond numbers and takes a closer look at underlying issues.
