I lived at Tyntesfield Park until 1956 when I went into the Army from Tyntesfield Camp. I went into the army – the estate agent said because I worked for Lord Wraxall I could have been deferred, in other words I didn’t have to go, I didn’t like the idea of shirting my responsibilities and so I decided that I would go into the army, and I was only in the army for three months and I was on my way to Suez and back to Cyprus where I spent my time, when I came back out of the army I then went back to work at Tyntesfield ‘cause if you went into the army they had to keep your job open for you, for when you came back. When I came back I worked with Albert for so many years but at that time I was learning my trade at Collage as well So then I became independent from Albert and Albert was quite getting on, he was past sixty five by then, past retirement but they didn’t retire on Tyntesfield, they just kept on working.
