A forum was convened early this week to discuss the media land scape in south Sudan.

The Forum brought representatives from the Media Authority, Association of media women in South Sudan and other journalists' associations in the country.

Also present at the forum was Canadia’s Ambassador to South Sudan, Alan Hamson and the journalists for human rights team leader, Laura Bain.

Speaking to Miraya Breakfast show, Canada’s Ambassador to South Sudan said there must be a clear separation between journalism and politics, in order to protect freedom of speech and expression in South Sudan.

Ambassador Alan Hamson, says Canada as a major partner in shaping the South Sudan media landscape, is working with the Media Authority and Journalists for Human Rights to protect and develop a professional media sector.
