Government happy with outcome of Uganda talks, SPLM-IO requests more time to consider

Cabinet Affairs Minister, Martin Elia says talks held over the weekend between President Salva Kiir and SPLM-IO leader Riek Machar in Entebbe, Uganda were ‘successful.

President Yoweri Museveni presented the parties with a proposed structure for the Presidency, suggesting the reinstatement of Dr Machar as Vice President alongside three other Vice Presidents. 

The talks held at State house in Entebbe, were also attended by Sudanese President, Omar Al Bashir. 

The proposal was accepted by the government but rejected by the SPLM-IO who said they needed more time to consider. Speaking on return at Juba International Airport, Cabinet Affairs Minister, also part of the government delegation Martin Elia Lomuro said the government is happy with the outcome.
