Efforts to fight Fall armyworm, an insect that destroys crops, have received a boost thanks to the Government of Japan’s financial support to train farmers to combat the spread of Fall armyworm, strengthen food security and build the resilience of local communities in affected areas.

The funding channeled through the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization  - FAO has so far seen more than 100 village facilitators trained to monitor and assess the impact of the pest across the country at community level.

Regina Gorle has been following this story and she spoke with Monday Ahonsi, a plant protection specialist with FAO, to find out how the village facilitators operate and what impact they have so far.
