The Spotlight with United Nations Volunteer Elizabeth Balimunsi, Video Conference Technician from Uganda

Ms. Elizabeth Balimunsi is one of the about 500, volunteers serving with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan.

Born in Uganda, Elizabeth began her volunteering journey as a video teleconference technician in January 2018, and just one year down the road, she tells the story of an experience that has illuminated so much value in her life.

"Volunteering has helped me learn to embrace new cultures, to embrace new people, it's a good thing because everybody is unique and this makes me a better person," says Elizabeth.

Elizabeth spoke of the value volunteering with communities gives individuals. "I have had a chance to serve & interact with people i would never have met if it was not for the UNV assignment - It is once in a lifetime opportunity go for it," she proudly emphasized.

Her hobbies are dancing, music, drama, swimming and reading.
