Parliamentarians in the Yei River State Legislative Assembly have declined to approve Kendila as a cantonment site for SPLA-IO forces.
The legislators have proposed Mapoko in Tore county as an alternative, saying Kendila is too close to the border with the DR Congo and civilian populations.
This comes after a team from the Joint Defense Board visited Yei and identified Kendila as a cantonment site and Moroto a training center for opposition forces in an effort to push for the full implementation of the security arrangements as stipulated in the peace agreement.
Referring to the security arrangements in the signed agreement, the head of information committee in Yei River state legislative assembly, Aloro Cyprus, said Kendila is not suitable for cantonment.
MP Aloro Cyprus spoke to Philip Wani in this report.
