New Bishop appointed for Catholic Diocese of Malakal

The Vatican has announced the appointment of a new Bishop for Malakal Diocese. Reverend Father Stephen Nyodho Ador Mojwok replaces Bishop Vincent Mojwok who retired ten years ago.  

Bishop-elect Nyodho’s appointment was announced by Pope Francis, Head of the Catholic church, on Thursday.

Malakal Diocese has till now been under the administration of Monsignor Roko Taban Musa.

Bishop-elect Nyodho, is currently in Bentiu where he fled because of the crisis and is expected to report to his station in Malakal within three months. 

Secretary-General of Juba Catholic Diocese Rev.Fr Samuel Abe Joseph says his appointment brings hope to the people of Malakal who have endured years of war and suffering. 

The Bishop-elect was born in January 1973 in Malakal Town. He published a book entitled “The role of the Catholic Church in peace building and Human rights promotion in South Sudan.

Secretary-General of the South Sudan Council of Churches Reverend Father James Oyet Latansio spoke to Sebit William about this Holy appointment.
