First Vice President Taban Deng Gai’s speech to UN General Assembly

The First Vice President has told the UN General Assembly that South Sudan is ‘heading towards lasting peace and stability.’  
 
In his speech to the Assembly in New York on Thursday, Taban Deng Gai updated the global leaders on the progress of the peace process and described the overall security situation in the country as ‘stable.’ 
 
The First Vice President asked for international support to push the peace process further. 
 
The top priority at this year’s General Assembly is the world's climate emergency. 
 
Addressing the issue, the First Vice President announced government’s plans to invest in clean energy and to plant 20 million trees every year.
