Host Kate Cocker is asking are the nurturing care-taking roles that mums tend to take and the bread-winning status of dad something instinctual or are they put on us by society?

Kate meets Clare and Alex who are starting out on their journey of shared parental leave, listen as we hear how Day one went for them and baby Evie.

We hear from Sam who took over care of baby Hal when he and his wife Freya decided it would make more financial sense for her to go back to work sooner and for Sam to be a stay at home Dad, Also he tells us about the heartwarming pro’s of being home from work more, like bonding with Hal in way he may not have been able to without the shared parental leave.

Hear from John Adams, stay at home dad and writer of the blog “Dad Blog UK”. He tells us about being the only dad on the playground, the reactions he gets when telling people he is a stay at home Dad and at times feeling a little left out from the mum's circle. 

And from the Manchester, This Mum Is event Kate talks to Alex who is on day two of his shared parental leave, so we hear his initial thoughts of being on full-time dad duty! So far he’s been the only dad at a baby dance class and managed to avoid a few “poo-narmis”!
